Ex-nurse, 28, who was jailed after posing as a man to con women into sending naked photos is imprisoned AGAIN after tricking three more victims with voice-altering software just months after her release

  • Pretended to be named Dan, Daniel, Max and Jack during the 18-day period
  • It came three months after she was freed from jail for an identical scam

A former nurse who posed as a man online to con women into sending her naked pictures has been jailed for repeating the offence only months after being released.

Adele Rennie, 28, targeted three more victims and used voice-altering software to sound like a man in the so-called 'catfish' scam.

Rennie, of Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, admitted posing as men named Dan, Daniel, Max and Jack during an 18-day period in which she duped victims into sending her personal information and pictures by social media apps such as Tinder and Instagram.

She also tricked one of the women, a single mother, into sending a video after she posed as a lawyer.

Rennie admitted the crimes, which caused her victims 'fear and alarm', at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court earlier this month.

All the offences were carried out in January, three months after she was freed from jail after serving ten months of a 22-month sentence for an identical scam.

Yesterday, Rennie returned to court and was jailed for three years. The court heard how the nurse targeted a young mother by posing online as a 31-year-old lawyer named Dan from Troon, Ayrshire.

After communicating online, they arranged to meet but 'Dan' cancelled, saying she had 'too much baggage'.

'He' then sent her a video of Dean Castle Country Park in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, where she had been, a picture of the brand of tea she liked and hinted that 'he' knew her postcode. She feared she was being stalked.

Rennie's victim Abbie Draper (pictured) confronted the talker in 2014, leading her to later admit that she'd posed as a doctor named David Graham from June 2014 to the following January

Ruaraidh Ferguson, prosecuting, said: 'Her fear grew so much that she did not feel safe in her own home and went to stay with family members.

'She told police officers she had no intention of returning to her home until the person responsible was caught.'

Detectives played her an audio clip of Rennie's disguised voice from her 2017 prosecution and she confirmed it sounded like 'Dan'.

Rennie also posed as an advocate from Troon, in a bid to trick another woman and again as a criminal lawyer to dupe a third victim.

The former nurse initially claimed she was a victim of conspiracy between her previous victims but later pled guilty to computer misuse offences causing fear and alarm to her victims in January.

Neil McPherson, defending, said Rennie had worked at Crosshouse Hospital near Kilmarnock and Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where she was a charge nurse specialising in stroke and general medicine.

Mr McPherson added: 'She has always suffered from low self-esteem, lack of confidence and felt she has never fit in.'

He said the catalyst to the offending was when Rennie was running in Dean Castle Country Park and was recognised by a friend of one of her victims, who called her a 'beast'.

Mr McPherson said: 'She decided, in her own words, to seek revenge.'

Jailing Rennie, Sheriff Liz McFarlane told her: 'You have behaved in a cold and calculated way to humiliate, hurt and harass people who have done nothing to deserve it.'

In 2017, when she adopted the persona of a doctor, she was jailed for 22 months and placed on the sex offenders' register for ten years after duping ten victims with the same scam.

Those offences involved Rennie sending many of her victims nude pictures of a man, begging for pictures of a sexual nature and in some cases turning up at her victims' homes.

TEN VICTIMS DUPED BY ADELE RENNIE IN HER FIRST SCAM:

Adele Rennie pleaded guilty to 18 charges against ten women when she appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on November 13 2017. The offences occurred between 2012 and 2016.

VICTIM ONE

Rennie used voice-changing technology to pretend to be men named David Crolla and David Graham. She followed her victim, took photos of her car and sent them to her.

VICTIM TWO

She sent a letter and parcel containing what she claimed were painkillers, sent sexually explicit texts and solicited naked photos.

VICTIM THREE

Rennie sent pictures of a naked man 'David Graham' and told her victim to go to a house where she claimed Graham lived.

VICTIM FOUR

She accessed the medical records of one of her victims in an attempt to obtain further details, then blackmailed her using photos of the victim's injuries.

VICTIM FIVE

Rennie followed a victim, asked for naked pictures and warned her not to go to police, while posing as 'Matthew Mancini'.

VICTIM SIX

She had sexually-charged conversations with the victim.
