A crash has led to the closure of a major road near Mold.

Police are urging motorists to avoid the A5119 Northop Road in Sychdyn following a two-vehicle crash.

The crash involves a Mitsubishi pick up and a box van.

The road is shut from the crossroads at Blackbrook to the Cross Keys public house.

One person was taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash which shut a road.

Paramedics, firefighters and police were called to the A5119 Northop Road in Sychdyn , between Mold and Northop, on Tuesday afternoon following a two vehicle crash.

Road clear

It appears that the road is now clear following the earlier collision.

The fire service have added that they made one vehicle electrically safe during the incident.

Road remains closed

The road remains shut at the moment and traffic is being diverted from the scene of the incident.

One person taken to hospital

The Welsh Ambulance Service has confirmed that one person is being taken to hospital.

A spokesman said:

We were called on Tuesday 18 June at approximately 4pm to reports of a road traffic accident involving a single vehicle on fire near Sychdyn.

“We responded with one ambulance.

“One patient is currently being transported by ambulance to the most appropriate hospital.”

'Fallen tree'

According to traffic analysts Inrix, there is also a fallen tree at the scene of the crash.

Long delays

There are long delays on the surrounding roads at the moment as a result of the crash.

Fire service update

A fire service spokesman has said that they are at the scene of the crash.

They added that all people were out of their vehicles when they arrived at the scene.
