Nine held for betting during India-Pak WC match

KAITHAL: The police arrested nine persons from Kaithal late on Sunday night for indulging in betting during the India-Pakistan cricket World Cup match, said an official on Monday. The crime investigation agency (CIA) also seized Rs 2.60 lakh in cash, 17 mobiles phones and one television set during the operation.
The accused have been identified as Aakash, Deep, Saurabh, Deepak, Maanik, Sandeep, Deepak, Chandan and Aashu -- all hailing from Kaithal district. CIA-1 in-charge Ramesh Chander said they had received information that some persons were betting on India-Pakistan match at a private office on Dhand Road. “A team was formed that raided the spot and nabbed the accused red handed,” he added.
