Manchester: Some players are built for the big occasions. Others are nurtured. A few have the luxury of both. Rohit Sharma, whose 113-ball 140 formed the basis of India’s highest total in more than a decade against Pakistan, is one of those few.

The hitman, as he has been referred to, yet again rose to the occasion and played a sublime knock against arch-rivals Pakistan, leading India to the path of glory yet again.
Rohit in this form even makes Kohli look simulated. And Kohli, the world’s best batsman who during this innings completed 11,000 ODI runs in 54 fewer innings than the previous fastest, Sachin Tendulkar.

Rohit Sharma clearly is in the good mental space that he spoke about during the post-match press conference.

“It’s just the space I’m in right now; having a newly born daughter in my life has put me in a really good space. I am enjoying my cricket coming off from a great IPL campaign. Here we were focussed on starting well and I think as a team we are heading in the right direction,” Rohit explained.

‘Being a Pakistan coach’
Rohit was asked by a Pakistani reporter as to what advice he would give as a colleague to the Pakistan batsmen, which according to the former was undergoing a period of crisis--clearly reflected in the results.

Rohit smiled and quipped that he would be able to advise only after he was made the Pakistan team coach.

“Agar main Pakistan ka coach bana to main bataunga, abhi kya bataunga! (If I become the coach of Pakistan then surely I will tell you. What can I say now!),” replied Rohit prompting the whole room to burst into laughter.

Rohit also refused to rank his latest hundred on the list of his all-time best knocks saying that ‘it’s very tough’ to judge the performances when you are playing for your country as all such knocks are ‘really really important’ for the team.

“I am sure if I get another hundred next game you will ask me the same question. It’s hard to put any knock on top because all those knocks you play for your country are really really important so its very tough,” the hitman concluded.

Yuvraj predicts Rohit to bag ‘man of the series’
The 2011 World Cup Man of the tournament Yuvraj Singh has predicted that India’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma could be the Man of the tournament in the ongoing World Cup. Rohit Sharma scored an undefeated knock of 122 runs in the first match against South Africa to help India get over the line.

His century on Sunday was preceded by a century and a fifty in India’s first 2 matches of the World Cup 2019. When asked about the reasons for his success, Rohit credited the birth of his new-born daughter for his excellent run of form.

Yuvraj took to Twitter to make his prediction. The post read as, “Chatting to Rohit at ipl time ! Discussion about getting starts but not getting big runs, and I was like you don’t know what lies ahead of you it’s happening for a reason! Same words told to me by @sachin_rt before 2011 wcup , my mos of 2019 prediction from india @ImRo45.

If India are garnering hopes of lifting the coveted trophy from the iconic Lord’s balcony, Rohit Sharma will be the team’s guiding light.
