CHANDIGARH:The
rooster which has robbed the
peace of a military veteran is living no ordinary life. The bird is fully vaccinated against
poultry diseases, maintains a high-level of hygiene, gets a
pedicure often and is given a liver tonic, according to the owner, as she reacted to the police complaint against her pet. That’s not all.
Brownie is given
vitamins daily for a good immunity system, has been dewormed once and his next deworming date is coming close, she said. “Other than this, our Brownie has had liver tonic for good health and is completely vaccinated against poultry diseases. Cleanliness is a big thing in our home and we clean Brownie’s living space daily, using products like Dettol for his bedsheets and phenyl for our floors for better hygiene. He is given a bath once a week, nails are trimmed and beak filed. We give him oregano oil pedicures,” said the owner in a communication sent to TOI on Monday.
The reply, in which the bird owner requested not to disclose their identity, also stated that the complainant has been creating undue pressure on them to forcefully remove Brownie from their home, which, according to her, is illegal.
Major H S Dilawari, a retired veteran and senior citizen residing along with his wife at Army Flats, Sector 47, Chandigarh, has given a complaint to police seeking action against his neighbour, whose pet has been disturbing his peace.
“Being senior citizens me and my wife are dealing with multiple health problems for which a sound rest is needed which is constantly broken with loud cock-adoodle doo during early hours and in the afternoon. Catching up on sleep again is impossible,” the veteran has mentioned in his police complaint. He has also stated that it has also become a nuisance for the whole building, with hygiene being a big concern as bird flu can affect small children in the building.
While police complaint has mentioned that nuisance is created by a rooster and hen, the woman in her response to the complaint has claimed that she only has a pet rooster.
It has also been claimed that the drain and staircase in the society, which is a shared space, has been cleaned only them. She claimed the complainant has been pressurizing them to leave their rented house by complaining to her landlord and creating problems.
“For them, he might be just a rooster, but for us, he is a beloved family member, who has been with us since he was three weeks old. I have raised him like my own, have fed him from my hands and he sleeps on my lap. Compassion towards animals is lacking in people these days. This harassment has saddened me and my family greatly,” said the woman.
