The Progressive Democratic Students’ Union (PDSU) and the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) jointly staged a protest, outside Narayana Olympiad School in Mogalrajpuram, to highlight the “exorbitant” fees the school allegedly collected from its students.
“By collecting high fees from parents, the school is violating the orders of the government. Besides, under the garb of new books and school uniforms, the school is exploiting the parents for more money,” alleged A. Ravichandra, president, PDSU.
The union has requested the government to look into the matter and make sure the fees collected by the Narayana School is fair for all the students.
The Students Federation of India (SFI) was also present at the site to not only protest about the rising fees but also demanded that the Narayana, Chaitanya and Bashyam schools that run without a license shut down.
“The government is turning a blind eye to these corporate schools that are operating without any license. The previous government was slave to these schools. It is the duty of the current government to seize these schools to protect the future of the children,” said Kotababu SFI head, Krishna district.
The SFI also demanded that M.V. Rajyalakshmi, Education Officer, Krishna District be suspended.
