District Collector L. Subramanian on Saturday ordered the detention of a bootlegger under the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Goondas and Video Pirates Act.
The accused, Kumar alias Kodukkankuppam Kumar of Melmalayanur, had several cases of smuggling of illicit liquor pending against him, the police sources said. The Prohibition Enforcement Wing registered a case and remanded him in custody.
