The Joint Action Committee of teaching and non-teaching staff of society-run colleges in the Union Territory have planned to intensify their protest in July demanding immediate implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations.
D. Ramkumar, president of Puducherry Government Society College Staff (Teaching and Non-Teaching) Joint Action Committee, said when the Seventh Pay Commission report was implemented, over 4,000 staff in 17 society-run colleges were left out.
Although the Cabinet decided to extend the pay commission recommendations to all teaching staff in society-run colleges from April 1, on par with the staff of the eight government-run colleges, a government order had not been issued so far.
The committee has decided to intensify the protests from July if the government delayed in implementing the decision of the Cabinet, he added.
