Most applications for courses from Commerce stream

The wait for over two lakh students who have applied for various degree courses will finally come to an end on Monday.

Sticking to its revised schedule, the Mumbai University (MU) will release its first merit list for autonomous and affiliated colleges at 5 p.m. on Monday. The students whose names are in the list and want to claim their admission to the allotted colleges, can verify documents and pay fees between June 18 and June 20 to secure their admissions.

While the second merit list is schedule to be released on June 20, the third list is scheduled for June 24.

Following the chaos after the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) results were announced late last month, the MU had revised its admission schedule, extending the date of online applications to June 15.

Officials said that while 2,62,128 students submitted their applications online, MU has received 7,83,896 applications in all for its various degree courses.

Keeping with the trend, Commerce and Science emerged as the preferred streams, most applications were made for the traditional and self-help courses from Commerce stream, followed by Science and Arts streams.

“For various courses under the commerce stream, the university has received as many as 4,72,921 applications. While 1,72,231 applications were made for science-related courses, 55,907 students have applied for Bachelors in Arts (B.A.). Bachelors in Mass Media (BMM) saw 51,079 applications,” a spokesperson of the MU said.
