Meeting held in DMCH to express solidarity with the doctors of West Bengal and National IMA

Ludhiana, June 17, 2019: All faculty members, residents and students today attended meeting at 10.30 am in Dumra Auditorium, to express solidarity with the doctors of West Bengal and national IMA.

According to Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta, violence against doctors has increased manifold and there have been many reports concerning medical professionals being roughed up, even killed, by patient’s disgruntled attendants.

Vice-Principal Dr GS Wander and Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, present on the occasion said that keeping in view latest incidence of violence against doctor in West Bengal "Indian Medical Association (IMA) awaits formal communication by the Government of India on the Central Law against violence against doctors and hospitals.

According to recent reports by Indian Medical Association, seventy five percent seventy five percent of doctors face verbal or physical abuse inside hospital premises. A cycle of violent strikes and negative media coverage has tarnished the image of the medical community in India.

Doctors serve the ailing humanity and to work under non threatening environment is their right for the proper conduct if medical services, said Medical Supdt Dr Ashwani Chaudhary
