Kamal Nath meets home minister Amit Shah, demands funds to check crimes

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath called on home minister Amit Shah on Sunday to discuss issues related to internal security and law and order situation in the state. This is Nath's first meeting with Shah, after his assuming the office of home minister at the Centre.
Kamal Nath, who reached New Delhi to take part in the first meeting of Niti Ayog under the aegis of new NDA government, reached Shah's official residence 11, Akbar Road in the evening, said sources in Mantralaya.
The meeting which continued for almost an hour discussed law and order situation in Madhya Pradesh besides, security of women and girl child. Nath is believed to also have also sent a missive to the Home Minister after the meeting seeking financial assistance of Rs 880 crore to prevent crimes against women and children in the state.
"Financial assistance would require to set up a cell to check crimes against women, procurement of investigating equipments, reorganization of mounted troops and dog squad, counselors to deal with cases of crimes against women. This will require technically skilled manpower, patrolling vehicles and office buildings", said Nath.

The meeting between the two stalwarts holds significance after BJP's thumping majority in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections where Amit Shah as BJP president had raised the issues of mass transfers and deteriorating law and order in Madhya Pradesh.
Shah had in a jibe at the Congress-led Kamal Nath government alleged that law and order situation in MP is like `lo aur order do' (take bribe and order work).
