Ludhiana: A 16-year-old girl, Waryam Kaur, allegedly ended her life by hanging herself after a tiff with her younger brother over some eatable in Barsala Khurd village of Machhiwara. Police officials said Waryam’s father had gone outside the state with combine vehicle, whereas her mother had gone to attend a religious function in the village on Sunday. They added that Waryam was at home with her two younger brothers.
Cops said Waryam had a tiff with her younger brother over some eatable, and challenged her that if he did not give her that, she would end her life. They added that after that, she went inside her room and bolted the door from inside, before hanging herself from a ceiling fan.
Police officials said family members later broke the door of the room, as she did not open it, and found her hanging from the ceiling fan. They added that later, the family informed the police, after which cops from Machhiwara police station, led by SHO inspector Ramaninderjit Singh reached the spot.
Cops said Waryam’s body was shifted to civil hospital for a post-mortem examination, adding that she had dropped out of school after Class VIII, and would often remain upset.
