People across the district on Monday faced difficulties in getting medical treatment as private hospitals in the district remained closed as the doctors restrained from their daily attendance in their respective hospitals to express their protest against recent attack on resident doctors of NRS medical college and hospital in Kolkata.
According to a statement issued by the Kolhapur Medical Association, they are on a 24 hours strike, as per the decision by Indian Medical Association, to protest against attack on doctors in Kolkata.
However, emergency medical services in the district, were operating at main hospitals.
All residential doctors in Chhatrapati Pramila Raje (CPR) hospital attended their daily work with banded black tape on arms, which would continue for the next seven days and from June 24 all doctors would go on indefinite strike, President of CPR residential doctors association said.
