2 men fined for killing wild boar

Coimbatore: The forest department has imposed penalties worth Rs 40,000 against two people for killing a wild boar using a country-made bomb at Periyanaickenpalayam on the city outskirts of the city on Sunday.
The accused were identified as P Kumar, 38, a resident of Gudalur Kavundampalayam and M Arumugam, 51, of Thirumalainaickenpalayam.

A team led by forest department ranger Suresh had apprehended the duo while conducting patrol near Naickar Garden, a patta land, around 10:30pm on Sunday. The men were carrying a bag. “Investigation revealed that they had killed a wild boar using a country-made bomb. They were carrying the wild meat,”an official said.
The accused were booked under the wildlife protection Act.
