A woman who was slammed online after comparing her life to that of a rice picker in Bali has broken her silence and quit Instagram altogether.
Natalie Schlater, from Stockholm, faced uproar after she uploaded a photograph of herself in a cream bikini overlooking a rice field in Canggu.
'Thinking about how different my life is from the man picking in the rice field every morning,' the Instagrammer captioned in the post to her 12,000 followers.
The post quickly went viral and thousands of people didn't hold back in criticising Natalie's choice of words, with some dubbing it nothing but a 'humble brag' and others branding her 'narcissistic'.

'It is the epitome of the social media generation,' wrote one, while another sarcastically penned an alternate caption for the image: 'Just thinking about how I'm so popular and rich and this guy is a rice farmer.'
A third commented: 'The rice farmer is probably more content with their life though and not the status chasing like the rest of us.'
Another said: 'He works for a living which is a start.'
In response to Natalie's post, one wrote: 'it is the epitome of the social media generation,' while another commented: 'From an "influencer" just sounds like a humble brag to me'
Alongside the image, which she posted to her 12K, she penned: 'Thinking about how different my life is from the man picking in the rice field every morning'
Natalie later addressed her mistake in posting the image, writing that she had been 'extremely misunderstood'.
'I am very aware of my privileges and how grateful I am for all that I have in my life and I was recognising how hardworking and unbelievably kind the Indonesian people are and never meant to come off disrespectful,' she posted.
She continued: 'That being said I am so sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings which was never ever my intention.
'Please be kinder to one another and spread kindness and not hate.'

After noticing the negative reaction her post received, Natalie took to the social media site to defend herself and said she had been 'extremely misunderstood' (pictured)
After recognising just how big the backlash was, Natalie made her profile private, deleted the comments and then deleted the account altogether.
She later spoke to Bored Panda, where she said she was brokenhearted about the reaction.
'It breaks my heart to see this photo turned into a different light than it was originally meant to be,' she told the publication.
'I have always loved the Indonesian people and their culture and overall attitude towards life and the people who come to visit their country.
'I worked extremely hard (at my normal everyday job) to save up enough money to go on that trip as I do not come from wealth as it may look like from social media (I know everything on this app is not as it seems).'
At the time of writing, her Instagram profile had still not been re-instated.
