RAJKOT: A man was arrested
for selling Ayurvedic drink allegedly
containing alcohol in Khambhaliya town of Devbhoomi Dwarka district on Thursday night.
Police said the accused, Chirag Lohana (22), used to bring the drink from a factory on Ahmedabad-Dholka highway and sell them to Bacchus lovers in Khambhaliya.
“Since the past fortnight, Lohana had sold off 2,800 bottles. Each bottle that cost him Rs 35 was sold by him between Rs 70 and Rs 100. He had become a popular figure among the Bacchus lovers who would throng his place to buy the drink,” said A B Jadeja, sub-inspector with Khambhaliya police station.
Jadeja said that after the police received a tip-off about Lohana’s brisk business of selling bottles, they arrested him. “We have recovered 1,150 bottles, worth Rs 1.15 lakh, from Lohana and sent them to forensic laboratory to ascertain the content of alcohol in them,” he added. TNN
