PUNE: A girl (14) and her 10-year-old brother drowned in Ghod river at Vadgaon (Kashinbeg) in Ambegaon taluka, about 90km from the city, on Saturday.
The Manchar police identified the deceased duo as Kajal Vijay Pawar and Vijay. They had gone to the river to wash clothes with their two siblings.
Their parents had gone to the Chakan market when they had gone to the river. Their two siblings, accompanying them, raised an alarm when the duo fell in water. Villagers rushed to the site and jumped into water to rescue the duo. Both were motionless when they were taken out of water. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead.
