PATNA:
Patnaites are ready to celebrate Father’s Day and make their dads feel special this Sunday. While some have bought gifts, others have decided to spend time with their fathers.
Vicenarian Akarsh Kumar and his 18-year-old sister Alisha will watch their dad Abhinav Singh’s favourite film ‘Coolie’ with him at home. “I usually go out with friends on Sundays, but this time I have cancelled all other plans in order to spend time with dad,” Akarsh told this reporter on Saturday.
Many gift stores in the city are offering attractive Father’s Day gifts to customers. Vivek Agarwal, a gift shop owner at Kurji, said, “These days youngsters do not miss out on any chance to make their parents happy. Many of them bought gifts and accessories for their dads from my shop.”
Saurav Mishra, another gift shop owner at
Kankarbagh, said, “We had ordered a huge stock of innovative Father’s Day gifts for sale. Most of them flew off the shelves as they were affordable.”
Dads, on the other hand, do not expect much from their children “I do not want anything from my kids. I love fulfilling their wishes, but do not expect anything in return,” Anisabad resident Anant Kumar said.
Businessman Ramesh Singh is indebted to his father for “all the sacrifices he made for me”. He said, “I visit my village and spend time with my dad every Father’s Day. Now that I am a father too, my respect and love for him has increased manifold.”
Patna Women’s College student Neha Sharma advised all youngsters to thank their dads for their “unconditional love”. “A mother’s contribution in bringing up a child is mentioned, but people hardly talk about dads,” she said.
