HYDERABAD: A day after it came to light that a a 19-year-old girl was allegedly raped multiple times by a 25-year-old car driver, SR Nagar police on Sunday picked up the culprit from his residence at Mallepally. The culprit’s father works at a dargah at Mallepally and he knew the survivor’s father. The girl, who is a school drop-out, stays with her family at Borabanda.
Due to personal problems, the girl’s father used to frequently visit the dargah at Mallepally and the accused got acquainted with him. In May last week, the accused offered to take the girl’s family for special prayers at a dargah in Bidar to solve their problems.
In Bidar, the accused and the family members of the girl stayed at a lodge. “The victim’s family alleged that the accused raped her at the lodge when she was alone. Later, they returned to Hyderabad. On June 2, the accused raped the victim again when he found her alone at home,” SR Nagar inspector S Murali
Krishna said.
The survivor’s family members came to know about the sexual assaults on June 13 and lodged a complaint with police. Based on the complaint, SR Nagar police have registered a case under Section 376 of the
Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused and sent the victim girl to Bharosa Centre for medical examination and counselling.
