MCG plans new tax policy, parking lots

GURUGRAM: A day after MCG commissioner Vinay Singh took charge, he chaired an in-house meeting with the engineering wing on Thursday, in which various projects in the city were discussed.
It was also decided at the meeting that a new tax policy will be implemented in the city and a new cultural centre will be built in Sector 53. The corporation also plans to build two multi-level parking facilities in the city. MCG officials said a total of Rs 184 crore will be spent on the centre. Tenders will be issued on June 20.
The new tax policy, meanwhile, will be prepared by the urban development department in Chandigarh.
Ongoing projects in the city were also discussed. Senior MCG officials said a committee has been formed under the guidance of state health minister Anil Vij for the transfer of industrial development colony (IDC) area to MCG, which is under way.

They added that two multi-level parking units will soon come up in Sadar Bazar and the Kaman Sarai area. The total cost of these units will be Rs 150 crore and Rs 46 crore, respectively.
Cleaning of water harvesting systems in the city was also discussed in the meeting. There are about 360 water harvesting units with HSVP and 270 with MCG, which are being cleaned. Cleaning will be completed by June 30, officials said.
