Mumbai-bound bus catches fire near Anand

VADODARA/ ANAND: Around 56 passengers on board a Mumbai-bound private luxury bus had a providential escape after the vehicle went up in flames on Ahmedabad-Vadodara expressway near Anand on Saturday evening.
According to Anand police, the luxury bus caught fire near Anklavadi village. The passengers, most of them hailing from Napa village and Borsad town of Anand district, were on their way to Mumbai’s Haji Ali Dargah.
Sources suggest that Aslam Kaji, a resident of Napa, had arranged the tour to Mumbai for the Napa and Borsad residents. The luxury bus is owned by private operator Rajdhani travels.

As the luxury bus reached near Anklavadi village, suddenly smoke started coming out from the bus. Bus driver Rahimkhan Pathan and passengers on board immediately de-boarded the bus, which soon caught fire.
Fire brigade team from Anand rushed to the spot to douse the fire while the passengers returned home in other vehicles.
