Facebook live records accident; two dead, seven injured

Nagpur: A joyride turn tragic after two brothers who were on their way to a pool party at a farm house in Katol died while seven others were injured after the SUV they were travelling in met with an accident on Sunday evening near Hatlagaon. The incident was also recorded in a video as the youths were sharing a live feed on Facebook while they were on their way to the party.

The video procured by TOI shows, Punkesh Patil, 25, driving the car while his brother Sanket was sitting beside him. One of his friends, sitting on back seat, was recording the video of the route as a rap song was playing in the background. The video shows Punkesh was trying to overtake a car which was already overtaking another car. It had led the SUV to the far right side of the road, before Punkesh lost control and the SUV met with an accident.
According to police, Punkesh lost the control of the speeding SUV due to which it went on the far right of the road before it summer salted twice before hitting a tree.
The incident was spotted by several villagers who soon informed police control room. Katol police rushed to the spot and sent the injured to hospital while both the brothers died on spot.
Till late night, police had not registered any offence in the matter.
