Metro is running but has no stations to stop at

A source in MahaMetro said work on many stations was stuck due to land acquisition problems
Nagpur: Even though three reaches of Nagpur Metro might become operational by mid-2020, it would take some months before all the stations become functional. Thus, in real sense, the project might be fully operational only in 2021.
A source in MahaMetro said work on many stations was stuck due to land acquisition problems. "In the Sitabuldi to Khapri stretch, Ujjwal Nagar station is in trouble as land required on one side is stuck in litigation. Five stations are already operational on this reach while the remaining five will be gradually opened for the public by this year-end," he added. MahaMetro’s station contractor for this reach — ILFS — has gone bust leaving the work in limbo. The contracts were retendered and now work is on in full swing again.
On Prajapati Nagar to Sitabuldi stretch, Prajapati Nagar station itself is stuck as the owner of Rehana Steel, whose land is required, is demanding a higher amount than that fixed by the district collector. "Negotiations are going on and we are trying to persuade the owner not to ask for a higher price," said the source.
In general, work of this stretch (Reach IV) has been affected due to labour shortage. "Over 70% of construction workers employed for this reach are from outside. They had gone to their native villages to vote, and have started returning only just now. Work will begin in full swing only after some weeks when all of them are back on the job," the official said.
The entire Reach II (Sitabuldi to Automotive Square stretch) is stuck since National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is yet to sanction the double decker flyover on this stretch. The flyover was to begin from a point near SFS Church but due to opposition from locals it has been moved to LIC Square.

However, four multi-storied buildings have to be acquired for it now. "We have stopped the work of most stations on Reach II as there is no clarity on the flyover. Work will begin only after NHAI gives the green signal," the source said.
In addition, two stations have land problems too. "The owners of land on one side of Automotive Square station are not willing to hand it over. The Ambedkar Square station is stuck as there is legal dispute among family members over the ownership of the land," said the source.
