At least 26 children were rescued from a biscuit factory in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur. The children were rescued as a part of the drive carried out by the authorities. N Swarnkar, District Child Protection Officer, Raipur said, 'We have been running a drive against child labour from 10-15 June and rescued 24 children across Raipur. Today our team went to a biscuit factory from where rescued we found 26 children. They have been sent to children's home”. As per Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 which was amended in 2016, a ‘Child’ is defined as a person below the age of 15. Employment of a child is prohibited in any field and it is a cognizable criminal offence to employ a child for any work.
