PATNA: The state health department has issued show-cause notices to 182 doctors of six medical college and hospitals in the state for being absent without prior information during inspection by the Medical Council of India (MCI) team between March and May. Of them, 152 are contractual and 30 regular doctors. They have been asked to reply within seven days.
The MCI team visited SKMCH at
Muzaffarpur, J N Karpoori Thakur Medical College and Hospital (
Madhepura), Vardhman Institute of Medical Sciences at Pawapuri, Government Medical College and Hospital, Bettiah, ANMMCH-Gaya and Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital at Bhagalpur.
Among the 182 doctors, 52 are from SKMCH, 27 from JKTMCH, 7 from VIMS, 14 from Bettiah college, 25 from ANMMCH and 57 from JLNMCH.
Meanwhile, an internal inquiry has been initiated to take strict action against the erring officials. On unsatisfactory replies, the contract of doctors will be terminated and disciplinary action will be taken against regular doctors.
