Kolkata: FIR against seven in admission fraud case

KOLKATA: The cops have stumbled upon an organized racket in south Kolkata that has allegedly duped scores of students and their kin in the name of providing them admission to medical and management courses. The Survey Park police have now filed an FIR against seven persons and two education consultancy firms and is investigating the case further.

Cops said Gargee Chatterjee, a resident of Krishnanagar in Nadia, claimed she had joined two education consultancy firms based in Ballygunge and Lake area in 2015, owned by the same person. Since then she was asked to collect money from parents of medical aspirants.
In addition, several documents were forcefully signed and prepared in her name that was later used to dupe the students. Worse, she and her brother invested Rs 5 lakh for a relative but the entire money was fraudulently taken and her kin did not get admission in any college.
