BENGALURU:
Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Saturday inducted independent MLAs R Shankar and H
Nagesh into his cabinet.
In a ceremony at Raj Bhavan which lasted for about 15 minutes, governor Vaju Bhai Vala administered oath of office to the new ministers. This is the third expansion of the cabinet ever since the coalition government came to power in May 2018. There is one more vacancy in the cabinet.
Barring Kumaraswamy, his deputy G Parameshwara, former CM
Siddaramaiah and a few ministes, most senior leaders including KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao and JD(S) state president H Vishwanath stayed away from the ceremony.
Before taking oath, Shankar met Siddaramaiah and gave consent letter to merge his KPJP (Karnataka Pragnyavanatar Janata Party) into Congress which was the precondition for his induction.
