NAVI MUMBAI: An 89-year-old Yemeni woman and a 41-year-old Thane resident were killed, while eight people were injured after a luxury bus overturned on hitting the wall inside Madap tunnel of Mumbai-Pune Expressway at 3.30pm on Thursday. Another Yemeni was injured, while the third narrowly escaped. The bus, with 20 passengers, was going from Bengaluru to Mumbai. Traffic on the Mumbai-bound carriageway stretched over a kilometre towards Pune after the accident for half an hour.
State highway police (Palaspe unit) assistant inspector Subhash Pujari said Fatima Dhaif Allah Saleh (89) was a housewife from Sana'a, while Kavita Palange (41) was from Pokhran Road. Ayedh Hussein Mohammed Ali Mohammed (39) suffered leg injuries and has been admitted to MGM Hospital, Kamothe, while a third Yemeni suffered minor injuries. "All three seem to be from one family. The passport of Ayedh has a special endorsement stating 'Treatment at Narayana Hospital, Bangalore'. His visa type is MED (medical)," he said.

"The bus driver, Musajit Pasa (54), from Karnataka, seems to have moved fast onto the first lane and then dozed off," he added.
