MUMBAI: A 40-year-old
lawyer was arrested on Thursday for allegedly impersonating a police officer and trying rob a commuter at Borivli station. Manoj Saboo, a Borivli resident, frequented the station at midnight to target passengers who came to the city on long-distance trains, said the police.
The railway police caught Saboo trying to take Rs 350 from Arif Khan's pocket, who had been sleeping on platform 10 of Borivli station around 4am. Khan (28) had arrived from
Haryana on Wednesday night. Saboo allegedly tried to take Khan to the police station, and when Khan protested, tried to rob him. Saboo has been booked for impersonating a public servant, cheating, and criminal intimidation.
The police have received several cases in the past year and a half where passengers complained about a man impersonating a police officer and robbing them at midnight.
