BHUBANESWAR: Higher education minister Arun Kumar Sahoo on Wednesday asked vice chancellors of universities of the state to immediately fill up all vacant teacher posts in their universities and affiliated colleges.
Sahoo said this while meeting with vice chancellors of all state universities under the higher education department.
Recruitment has become a major issue in the state universities and its affiliated colleges. Recently the University Grants Commission (UGC) had cautioned all universities and colleges that it will take action if the vacant posts are not filled up within six months.
The higher education department has also put the teacher recruitment on hold due to reservation issue. But the department will withdraw it soon after the minister order, said a senior higher education department official.
Sahoo said that nuisance of non-students in educational campuses cannot be tolerated. Steps will be taken for improvement in research qualities and help meritorious young faculties to carry out research activities, he added.
He also discussed about introduction of common syllabus in universities from the current academic session. It will help them in future while attending all India examinations. Focus will be given for timely publication of results and distribution of certificates, he added.
