Couple jumps before train in Ramadevi, die

KANPUR: A young couple allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train on Delhi-Howrah route in Ramadevi area under the limits of Chakeri police station in the city on Thursday.
The police identified the youth as Nagendra Singh Yadav (21), a native of Bala Ka Purwa pocket in Khaga police station limits of Fatehpur district. Identity of the girl could not be ascertained.
According to police, the incident came to light after the guard of Rajdhani Express alerted the station master at Kanpur Central. After getting information, police rushed to the spot. Police are yet to ascertain why they took this extreme step. The bodies were found near the Delhi-Howrah track.
Inspector Chakeri Ranjit Rai said, "The identity of the youth was ascertained following recovery of a driving licence from his pocket. The girl's identity is yet to be known. We are trying to contact the family of the boy with the help of address mentioned in the driving licence."

Rai told TOI, "An investigation is on in the matter and we are trying to find out that why they committed suicide."
He added that they seemed to be 'love birds' as a heart-shaped red cushion with 'I love You' message and some pictures were recovered from their bag. They probably eloped from their homes and visited Vaishno Devi shrine on June 8.
