MUMBAI: Ahead of monsoon, the BMC released WhatsApp numbers of civic engineers where citizens can directly report potholes on city roads. This service was offered last year as well.
The rains see several complaints from local residents about poor roads and potholes that crop up all of a sudden.

On Thursday, the civic body published a list of contact numbers in a few newspapers. BMC officials said citizens can either choose to complain about potholes on their mobile MCGM app 24/7 or send WhatsApp messages to civic engineers across all 24 BMC wards. That apart, they can also register their complaints on the toll-free 1800221293.
A BMC official said they decided to circulate WhatsApp numbers to help any citizen who faces difficulty in uploading pictures of potholes via the mobile app. They can directly message the ward’s civic engineer. In the past, the Bombay high court had directed the BMC to publish the mobile numbers of road engineer of each ward in newspapers where people can send their complaints regarding potholes.
