The Mangaluru City Corporation will supply water on alternate days in the city and Surathkal divisions till repairs are carried out to the 1,000 kV transformer at the Thumbe pumping station.

The corporation had continued with daily water supply following inflow of water at the dam. However, it had to be stopped on Wednesday.
An engineer from the corporation said that the water level at Thumbe stood at 2.42 m on Thursday and the inflow was set to increase with rain in the catchment areas.
According to a press release, the 1,000 kV transformer was damaged on Thursday following heavy rain and lightning. The engineer said that the transformer was likely to be repaired in another five days.
