BAREILLY: A law student suffered bullet injury after two groups allegedly clashed and exchanged fire on the issue of shooing off monkeys in Ratanpur village under jurisdiction of Pasgavan police station in
Lakhimpur Kheri district on Thursday evening, said police.
According to the police, Somendra Yadav was rushed to a local hospital, from where he was referred for a higher medical centre in
Shahjahanpur and then to a
Bareilly hospital.
According to Dr Anurag Parashar at
Shahjahanpur district hospital, “A bullet struck the 26-year-old man into his stomach and made its way out. His condition is serious.”
Circle officer Shrestha Thakur said, “Two groups clashed over shooing away monkeys and in the ensuing gun battle, one youth was injured and sent to hospital. Police force has been deployed in Ratanpur and we are trying to identify the accused and have been conducting raids to nab them.”
According to CO, the situation is under control. Since, no complaint had been lodged from either sides, an FIR was yet to be registered in the matter, he added.
