NEW DELHI: Prime Minister
Narendra Modi has advised all the central ministers to be careful about what they speak or tweet to avoid any controversy.
He has also asked ministers to modernise their style of working and use IT to keep tab on each and every programme under their watch.
The PM's advice to ministers not to be tweet-happy came during the first meeting of council of ministers on Wednesday evening and is being seen as a reiteration of what Modi had told BJP law makers in the Central Hall of Parliament soon after they were elected. While addressing the party MPs Modi had said that a few leaders had the habit of giving "some message to the nation" everyday, which they should avoid doing.
"It's also a message that we should not just jump to make observations or announce plans without doing the homework. He wants everyone to put full effort to achieve targets and deliver the promises we have made," said a Union minister.
Sources said that PM indicated that ministries should have an integrated dashboard of the schemes and programmes so that ministers can get updated information at the click of a mouse. They added during the earlier regime, some of the ministers had put this system in place and it had proved to be effective.
TOI has learnt that during his tenure as Gujarat CM, Modi used to keep track of those who were delaying clearing files. In the past five years, most government departments have put the e-office system which has eliminated physical movement of files.
