4 PSPCL employees booked for recording wrong meter readings

Ludhiana: The police have booked four employees of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) for recording wrong readings of electricity meters in Kakowal.

The FIR has been lodged on the complaint of Deepinder Singh Grewal, PSPCL senior executive engineer, Sundar Nagar Mandal, Kakowal Road, against meter readers Bhupinder Singh, Rajan Gupta, Jyoti Bhatiya and Mukhwinder Singh. Grewal said the wrong submissions have caused a loss of Rs 4.74 lakh to the power corporation.
Assistant sub-inspector Kulwant Singh said, “We had received a complaint against the four on February 22. Following an inquiry, a case has been registered under sections 420 (cheating) and 477-A (falsification of accounts) of the IPC. It is suspected that the accused deliberately reported wrong meter reading.”
