Patna-based math genius Anand Kumar, the inspiration behind Vikas Bahl's Super 30, said that he was laughed at when he decided that Hrithik Roshan will portray him in the biopic.

In an interview with The Quint, Anand said that the makers did not simply buy the rights of his story, and that he was closely involved in the scripting as well as the casting process. "I chose them. Not just the script, but who will direct it, who will act. I decided everything. And I have worked with them on the script of the film," he said.

"When I was selecting Hrithik Roshan everyone laughed at me saying that he looks like a Greek god and I must select someone who could look the part. But when I met him, he said that this film is very difficult and I will take time to even get into your character. He spoke to me. He sat with me for hours and hours," he added.

When Anand's family members watched the trailer of Super 30, they were amazed by Hrithik's transformation. "When the trailer came out my mother was teary-eyed. My brother was also astonished. I have a two-year-old daughter who jumped in excited saying, 'Papa, papa!'" the mathematician revealed.

Recently, after the trailer of Super 30 released, one fan took to Twitter to ask Hrithik how he manages to "get to the core of the character, sense their emotions and portray them with so much ease and elan" every single time.

Hrithik was overwhelmed by the praise and replied that the emotional journey of the characters he portrayed was quite similar to his personal emotional journey. "I am humbled by your appreciation and promise to keep working hard," he added.
