The son of a man who choked and sexually abused a seven-year-old girl at a Sydney dance studio says he 'would be better off dead'.
Anthony Peter Sampieri, 55, on Thursday pleaded guilty to three counts of child rape and seven other charges in Sydney's Central Local Court after the attack in a Kogarah dance studio bathroom in November 2018.
His 25-year-old son, Daniel, said while his father was not born a monster, he the 'quicker he dies the better'.
Daniel, a barber, said his father had been abusing heroin and ice for years and there's no cure for someone like him.

'There's no cure for someone like that, he's better off dead and the quicker he dies in jail the better,' he told Daily Telegraph
'I hope he feels for what he's done but he's beyond saving … he's been abusing heroin and ice too long. Our Nonna has been visiting him in jail and says he cries all the time, he doesn't understand what he's supposed to have done and claims he can't remember anything.'
'People won't believe me when I say he wasn't born a monster — he tried to be a dad but didn't know how.'
The attack on the girl ended when two people, including dentist Jeffrey Stack, burst into the bathroom and tried to apprehend him.
Mr Stack said Sampieri should remain locked up because he is pure evil.

It later emerged Sampieri had been out on parole after raping a woman years earlier.
He also pleaded guilty to detaining the girl, choking her in order to commit a serious offence, committing two indecent acts while filming her, indecently assaulting her and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
As a result of the 10 guilty pleas, five other charges including alleging an assault, using an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention and using a child to make child abuse material were withdrawn.
A bearded Sampieri appeared via video link from custody as his lawyer, Penny Musgrave, entered the pleas on his behalf.
The court heard some facts were still in dispute despite the guilty pleas.
Sampieri was committed to Downing Centre District Court for sentence on June 21 when he's again due to appear via video link.

During previous appearances the court heard how Sampieri had waited in a public toilet cubicle used by a dance studio before sexually attacking a young girl when she entered just after 7.30pm on November 16
The rapist also faces 29 charges of making threatening phone calls in the weeks before the dance studio attack.
He's due to appear before Central Local Court on July 10 on those matters.
A police officer is separately facing charges of neglecting his duty for allegedly mishandling a complaint about the paroled rapist in early November.
Leading Senior Constable Andrew Michael Bruce has pleaded not guilty to all four charges and is currently suspended with pay.
