CHANDIGARH: A Class VI student is 13 weeks pregnant after she was allegedly raped by her 20-year-old relative at her native place, police said on Wednesday after registering a zero FIR. A
zero FIR can be filed in any police station irrespective of place of incident/jurisdiction).
The girl said she had gone with her family to attend a marriage function in
Uttarakhand around three months back. One of her relatives, who had come from out of station, allegedly raped her. The incident came to light when she started vomiting and complained of pain in her abdomen.
Parents took her to a hospital, where doctors diagnosed her to be 13 weeks pregnant and informed the police. When cops from Sector 39 police station counselled the girl, she spoke about her ordeal.
On the basis of the medical report of the girl, police registered the zero FIR (first information report) under relevant sections of the
Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, against the accused and forwarded the details to police in Uttarakhand.
