JAIPUR: After a prolonged spell of the heatwave conditions,
minor relief was witnessed as a dip of almost 3 degree Celsius was witnessed in the state on Wednesday afternoon. It was though expected that cyclone Vayu was responsible for the widespread rainfall activity

Met office clearly refuted it saying “locally prevailed system responsible for it”.
The dip in the temperatures was not enough to be called as a respite as majority of the places witnessed its maximum temperatures of 40 degree Celsius and above except Udaipur where a maximum temperature of 39.4 degree Celsius was recorded, the Met reports said on Wednesday. Churu remained hottest in the state where a maximum temperature of 47 degree Celsius was recorded.
It was believed that the Gujarat’s cyclone Vayu is responsible for the widespread rainfall activity in Rajasthan, however Jaipur Met office clearly refuted it.
“It is a locally prevailed system and effect of upper air cyclonic circulation. The
humidity level also increased up to 52% on Wednesday compared to 18% which was on Tuesday,” said Shiv Ganesh, director, Jaipur Met office.
Due to the upper air cyclonic circulation and increased humidity levels many places in the state witnessed mild showers and dust storm during afternoon that guided mercury to take a dip. However the spell of rainfall was meagre as it worked as a catalyst to increase the humidity levels in the state as 52 percent humidity was reported in Jaipur and other parts of Rajasthan.
However, due to Vayu cyclone that prevailed in Gujarat two trains were partially cancelled by the north western railways (NWR). “The trains including Bareilly-Bhuj and Bhuj-Bareilly would operate up to Abu Road station of Rajasthan only that means Bhuj-Bareily will start its journey from Abu Road to Bareilly and Bareilly-Bhuj would operate upto Abu Road only,” said a senior officer of NWR.
People in Jaipur woke up to comparatively pleasant morning as a minimum temperature of 29.7 degree Celsius was recorded. In this season so far Jaipur had seen its minimum temperatures up to 33 degree Celsius. In the afternoon amidst the heavy cloud cover and drizzles maximum temperature of 42.8 degree Celsius was recorded which came as respite.
Heavy dust storm and rainfall was witnessed in almost every parts of the state that also created some havoc. At many places electric poles got down while trees were also been uprooted. In many districts people already fighting with simmering heat conditions saw abrupt power cuts. In its forecast Jaipur met office said that mild showers and dust storm would be witnessed in the next 24 hours in eastern and western Rajasthan.
