Eastern Railway and Tamil Nadu will decide the group topper after they won their matches against Karnataka and Delhi in the women’s section in the 33rd Federation Cup basketball tournament at the Gautam Buddha University here on Thursday.
Eastern pipped Karnataka 71-68, thanks to Madhukumari who top-scored with 27 points. Sanjana Ramesh and Lopamudra played their hearts out for Karnataka. The Railway team had earlier eased past Delhi 97-62, with Poonam Chaturvedi scoring 27 points.
Tamil Nadu showed its all-round supremacy while beating Karnataka and Delhi.
Kerala ahead
In the other group, Kerala led the table with two wins, followed by Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra with one victory each.
In the men’s category, Punjab Police won its matches against Income Tax (Chennai) and Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), Lucknow. In the other group. Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh and Indian Army won two matches each.
The top two sides from the two groups will make it to the semifinals.
