Agriculture department busts gang supplying spurious pesticide

JALANDHAR: The agriculture department has busted a gang involved in supplying spurious pesticides to farmers by seizing eight quintals of Imdeclopreed 0.3 GR pesticide.
Chief agriculture officer Dr Naazar Singh said, “The pesticide was being sold to farmers in the name of Meerut-based pesticide company.”
The officer said the company was not recognized by the agriculture directorate, Punjab, for its operations in the state.

Meanwhile, Adampur police have registered a case and have arrested driver of the vehicle in which the consignment was being transported.
“The samples of pesticide failed the test at Pesticide Testing Laboratory at Chandigarh. An FIR has been lodged under Sections 420, 274 and 120-B of IPC,” the officer said.
