Leopard frequenting Tamil Nadu village captured

The leopard was trapped in the cage around 9am on Thursday
COIMBATORE: Forest officials on Thursday captured a leopard which had been frequenting Mothepalayam village in Sirumugai forest range. Later, it was released into the Talamalai reserve forest near Thengumarahada (near Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve).
Forest officials said based on reports of leopard sightings from residents of the area, they had placed camera traps. When they confirmed the presence of leopard, they placed a cage trap at Chinnamalai Karadu near Mothepalayam village on Wednesday.

“We had kept a goat as the bait inside the trap. The leopard was trapped in the cage around 9am on Thursday,” he said.
The official said it was a female leopard and could be around 2.5 to 3 years old.
