The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) enforcement wing has booked cases against 43 buses in inspections held simultaneously at the bus stands in Kozhikode, Vadakara, Nadapuram and Feroke.

According to a pressnote, the inspection squad checked 124 buses and noticed that the speed governors were either out of order or detached in many buses, while the reservation seats were not mentioned in others.

The height of the steps were too high in some. Wipers, lights, seats, side shutters and hand grips were also checked.

The squad booked 18 buses for detaching speed governors, 10 for faulty lights, 11 for using worn off tyres, 6 for using air horns and 11 for steps placed too high. Stop memo was served on four buses. Regional Transport Officer A.K. Sasikumar said the inspection would continue in the coming days.
