Five-year-old raped by Std VI student

Nagpur: A five-year-old girl was allegedly exploited for around two years by a 13-year-old juvenile between August 2017 and June 2019. Following a complaint by the survivor’s mother, Kotwali police have registered a case of rape under Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the juvenile, a Std VI student, on Wednesday.
Police said the survivor and the juvenile live in flats opposite each other. The survivor’s father works in Pune while she lives with her mother at the flat. In August 2017, the survivor was playing outside her flat when the juvenile called her to play at his home and allegedly exploited her. The juvenile also allegedly threatened the survivor of dire consequences if she shared the incident with anyone. The frightened minor did not tell anyone.
In the coming months the juvenile allegedly kept exploiting the survivor. Recently, the survivor shared her ordeal with a friend in the neighbourhood, who was shocked. The survivor’s friend then approached the minor’s mother and told her about the incident.

The survivor’s mother took the survivor for medical check-up, where she learnt about the alleged exploitation of her daughter. The survivor’s mother approached Kotwali police on Wednesday and filed a complaint. Cops, after registering the complaint, sent the survivor for medical check-up.
Senior PI of Kotwali police station Dyaneshwar Bhosle said, “It is a delicate matter. We have sent the survivor for medical check-up and will conduct further inquiry after the reports come.”
