BENGALURU: A 30-year-old homemaker poisoned her two children, including a five-month-old girl, to death before hanging herself from the ceiling of her rented house in Manorayanapalya, near Hebbal, on Monday.
Pushpavathi, in her suicide note, said she was taking the drastic step as she was depressed in life and no one was responsible for it.
According to Hebbal police, the incident came to light around 9pm, when Pushpavathi’s husband Nagaraj, driver with a private company, returned home from work, and found the bodies of his wife, eight-year-old son Jeevan N and the daughter.
Preliminary investigation revealed Pushpavathi, who was from Theerthahalli, Shivamogga district, fell in love with Nagaraj 10 years ago when the duo worked in the same firm and they tied the knot despite her parents’ opposition.
Spouse says they never fought
Police questioned Nagaraj about the incident and he reportedly told them that he and his wife never fought during their married life.

“I was shocked to know that my wife had committed suicide after poisoning our kids to death. She was not in the touch with her family after our marriage,” a police officer quoted Nagaraj as saying.
All three bodies were shifted to Dr BR Ambedkar Medical College Hospital. “We have contacted Pushpavathi’s parents over the phone and are waiting for their arrival to conduct a postmortem. We will register a case based on their allegations,” said a police officer.
