Envision Pharma Group is expanding its Envision the Patient team with the appointment of Amanda Boughey, who joins from Cancer Research UK.

Amanda joins the award winning team as its new Global Patient Partnership Director, and will help further expand the company’s offering.

She has over 17 years’ experience in patient-centred healthcare strategy and communications, and in her new role, will help increase the range of services already offered by Envision in medical affairs and patient partnership – under the leadership of Professor Karen Woolley.

Amanda led multi-stakeholder initiatives at Cancer Research UK, bringing together clinicians, patients and policy makers – to help encourage early diagnosis of cancer. Prior to this role, Amanda worked within healthcare agencies delivering global integrated comms programmes in a range of therapy areas, and specialised in patient engagement, behaviour change projects and communications.

Professor Woolley commented: “I believe we’ve passed the tipping point with patient involvement in the pharma industry and are beginning to deeply understand how it will influence and transform the way we work.”

She says evidence of this transformation can be seen across medical publications, scientific congresses and in medical affairs teams, as they build resources dedicated to patient engagement.

Envision team recently won the ‘Best Practice’ Award at ISMPP for its research on plain language summaries and a toolkit co-created with patients, industry, publishers and plain language specialists.

Professor Woolley added: “It really is an exciting time to be working in this area and I am delighted that Amanda is joining our team to help clients achieve more, bringing years of experience and skills working with pharma, clinicians and patient advocacy groups”.

Amanda commented: “Envision has a fascinating, evidence-based approach and access to a broad group of stakeholders within healthcare, so I’m looking forward to working with all of them to amplify the patient voice and ensure patients have access to the very best in scientific research and understanding.”
