Woman attempts suicide after discovering husband’s affair

AHMEDABAD: A woman in her forties was rescued by Abhayam 181 counsellors from the Sabarmati riverfront on Tuesday, where she had gone to end her life.
Counsellors said that the woman was stunned on finding out that her husband was having an affair in the most unusual way, she found a pen drive in her husband’s car, which contained 200-odd pictures of his intimate moments with his lover, a married woman.
“According to the victim, the woman had a relationship with the man who is now her husband earlier. She then got married and had her own family . They chanced upon each other a few months ago at a common friend’s function and hit it off again, as she was unhappy with her own marriage. The woman’s brother had given her husband a car to operate as a radio taxi, in which the pen drive was found,” said an Abhayam official.
The victim and her brother also found a mobile phone in the car, which her husband used to call his lover. “The woman’s husband has not been seen ever since he his married lover were confronted about their relationship. The woman was greatly pained by the affair and was worried about their children. She thus went to end her life. We informed her maternal uncle and other relatives about her mental state after counselling her,” the counsellor said.
