The song titled “I Go Namibia” dips the listeners into exotic landscape, attractions, and heritage of the two nations. On Monday, Peter Chizyuka, spokesperson of the four-member VM6 band, explained that the song concludes after broad research about the initiative, tourism markets, and trends.
“The song also infuses art with banking to promote the ‘I GO Namibia’ initiative,” he said.
In May this year, Standard Bank Namibia authorized the group to record the song in light of the launch of the “I Go Namibia” initiative in Windhoek.
Under “I Go Namibia”, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), the Chinese banking company and Standard Bank, provide suitable financial services to people related to tourism businesses as well as Namibian and Chinese tourists.
Vetumbuavi Junius Mungunda, chief executive officer of Standard Bank Namibia, explained that the boom in China-Namibia tourism prompted the song composition, and attracts on the potential of arts and the creative industry to ignite interest and boost the “I Go Namibia” initiative in a song.
As per Chizyuka, art and music are critical in lifting up awareness and attracting tourists to both Namibia and China, to boost up investment and enhance cultural exchange.
Also, the song features a chorus in the Chinese language to make sure inclusivity and cater to the African and Asian client base.
The melody has attracted several fans. Tivon Netu, a Namibian national, stated that she means to visit China and experience tGlobally renowned Vocal Motion Six (VM6) group has composed a song to endorse Namibia and China as popular tourist destinations.he Chinese culture.
In the meantime, Chinese ambassador to Namibia Zhang Yiming stated that Chinese tourists have an ever-rising interest in Africa.
The 2017 report on tourists figures by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism shows that Namibia welcomed around 10, 000 Chinese tourists, which is a year-on-year increase of 16.6 percent.
