NMC razes illegal construction of eating joint

NAGPUR: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s anti-encroachment department on Wednesday razed 226.2 sq ft illegal constructions made by Sardarji Ki Rasoi near Bajaj Nagar Chowk. The NMC had served notice to demolish illegal construction to the restaurant’s owner Rajendra Guswade on September 14, 2010, the latter made no efforts to this effect.
Finally, on Wednesday, armed with an excavator and tipper, anti-encroachment team of Dharampeth zone razed the illegal construction in the hotel.
Similarly, following high court directives, the Dhantoli zone’s anti-encroachment squad on Wednesday razed 18 illegal fish shops in Bhoipura fish market in front of Mayo Hospital. In May, the NMC had taken similar action but the encroachers returned.

The zone’s team also freed footpaths between Baidyanath Square and Jadhav Chowk in Ganeshpeth area, from ST stand to Agyaram Devi Square to Cotton Market by taking action against 42 vendors.
Under Ashi Nagar zone, the enforcement team razed a wall constructed illegally over nullah in Lashkaribagh area. The team also removed 29 vendors who have occupied footpaths in Char Khamba Square, Teka Naka, Vaishali Nagar. Assistant municipal commissioner (enforcement department) Ashok Patil, enforcement inspector Sanjay Kamble led the anti-encroachment drive.
